Phil... I think Llewellyn said he wanted to add moulding to
tiles... I wrote a LONG post which somehow disappeared into a
black cyber hole. As it is not in my "sent Clayart" folder, it
was a yet another glitch on This ****dy PC! (Now its official
name. Hope M$ appreciate that when they receive my automatic
error reports by e-mail! :o)
Anyway, short version:
Llewellyn! Although you have had plenty of advice, have you tried
just cutting the profile of what you require out of an old credit
card? Press a fresh coil of clay onto the tile (maybe even use
some vinegar, slip, or spooze if the tile is already a tad dry)
and pull the credit card straight down it so that you are
scraping off excess clay, but leave behind a line of moulding in
the shape of the cut-out...To get straight lines on the tile/s
you can just firmly hold a wooden lath to guide the card along as
you pull it across the surface.
If I misunderstood the original question and you actually wanted
to add a profile or moulding to a pot, you could try exactly the
same method.
Sincerely
Janet Kaiser -- All's well here after the first real storm of the
season... Thanks for the many inquiries. And yes! We do get
really vicious storms when trees come down and there can be
structural damage to property, flooding along the coast, etc.
although obviously not as bad as cyclones which brew in the
tropics and then move up into other adjacent regions around the
world. A shift in weather patterns can now mean that what usually
travels up north from the Caribbean will come across the Atlantic
to us instead. Apparently global warming is increasing this
threat and so it is happening more often... We have had twisters
and real hurricanes with cyclonic winds in recent years ... Hence
my jocular reference to the USA sending us crap... Informed Clay
buddies may have realised I was also referring to certain
contaminated Ghost Ships being sent to the UK to be broken up
(too toxic for US to deal with) and a State Visit next week... A
poll shows that a reversal of those two news items would better
suit many! (US keeps the ships and we dispose of our US visitor
in an environmentally friendly manner) Ha! Ha!...
