old kilns and itc

itc is never a cure for an old kiln, or one
that is broken down.

it is a great product for a complete rebuild, or
a application on a newer kiln.

i think the best way to use itc is soak
ceramic fiber in it and apply to soft brick.
or, to stabilize fiber so you will not have
to breath it.

but, to think it will make an old kiln fire faster
is not a good way to approach this material.

it is not a `wonder drug` for kilns, it is a fine
thermal coating for kilns. improves performance
about 15 percent. it is not a cure.

but, think if your gas bill is 1.5 million dollars a year.
and, you save 15-20 percent.
that is what happened when feriz lined the furnaces
at alcoa. and, he tripled the life of the furnaces.
not bad.
