If a pot can be sprayed, I want to spray it. I can tap center to
perfection, but I totally fail at glaze application by any method
other than spray.
So the question is: what to buy? The choice is between the Harbor
Freight 44677 turbine driven all-in-one kit for about 70-80 dollars
and a compressor/spray gun for considerably more. I can afford
either, within reason, and although I am "only" a dabbler, I take my
clay work very seriously and want to work with the best.
I know what a good compressor/gun can do, but what can 44677 do? My
reading of this List and search of the Archives tell me that a number
of people have the 44677 and like it. But what are you using it for?
Heavy use? Occasional use? Is the .70 nozzle opening a problem (the
tech at HF told me they used to have interchangeable nozzles but
don't any more)? Is the steady air flow a problem? How is it holding
up? Any other problems or reservations?
Last night I had a nightmare: a contractor who did some work on my
house turned up in my absence and installed a compressor which I
hadn't ordered and set it up in a place where I didn't want it.
That's too much.
I'm thoroughly confused.
Any help, on or off List, will be greatly appreciated.
TIA

In a local antiques "mall" I saw a plate like the ones my mother used
to get at the Wednesday movies back in the thirties. It was on a
wooden plate stand and priced at $12.
