Hi all!

I have been busy the last few weeks working on building my "Dream
Kiln". It's going to be a gas fired downdraft car kiln. About 28 cu.
ft. in stackable space. Vince designed it for me and has been
guiding me through the process of getting it built. We would rather
have done this in warm weather, but the permit process took so long
that I wasn't able to start stacking bricks until the day before
Halloween.

Anyway, since I was checking with Vince constantly to be sure I
wasn't taking a wrong turn, I got a pretty thorough photographic
record of the process. I'd take pictures of what I'd done, send them
of via e-mail to Vince, and then he would tell me if anything needed
to be done over. I'll tell you there were a couple of places where
that process saved me from really doing something stupid! The kiln
is not quite finished yet. Saturday will probably see us finishing
the brickwork. Then there is still the matter of plumbing the
burners. That is waiting till a friend who will help returns from
vacation Dec. 1st.

I have just posted a new page to my website showing much of the
progress so far. If you'd be interested in checking it out, go to my
homepage http://www.McDowellPottery.com and in the sidebar you'll
see a link for "Building my New Kiln". Let me know what you think of
it...
