Today I was listening to my all time favourite CD a live recording at the
Blue Bird Cafe of my favourite Texan songwriters Townes Van Zandt, Steve
Earl and Guy Clark. The Cape by Guy Clark is about a kid that thought he
could fly cause nobody told him he couldn't, so he would make up a cape and
get on the garage roof and jump off and try to fly. As an old man he was
still jumping off the roof trying to fly. People all thought he was nuts.
One of the lyrics goes like- Life is just a leap of faith, jump off, hold
your breath and always trust your cape.
Story of my life.
Are you listening Jody in Buffalo? Buy the CD for Christmas, you won't be
disappointed. some other goodies like My old friend the blues and if you
need a plan take some lessons from Charlie don't ya know and plant some
seeds from Colombia and Mexico on Copperhead Road- Steve Earle.
Music is a cure for the blues.
Cheers,
Tony
