Thanks to everyone who answered my query about underglazes over, rather than
under, a base glaze. Lots of good feedback.
I realized I had not given a lot of information in my original post.
What I am wanting to do is dip the pieces in a white base glaze to make the
tan clay white, (I am using recycled) then use Laguna underglazes to make my
designs. I fire to cone 6 in oxidation. Is this considered cone 6 majolica?
If I use Mason stains instead will I have better results? What about oxide
stains that I mix myself?
If anyone has any further input I'd appreciate hearing it.
Thanks, Lou in Colorado
