tony/cure for the blues

I read mel-san's recipe for curing the blues. "80 pots. no seconds. all racers. ...made me dance, hug the dog..."

That, to me is the wonder of what we do, and part of the reason why we do it. Every time I open the kiln, I sorta know what to expect, but when I get "... reds to die for..." it's Christmas in July.

Only the big manufacturers know what to expect every time a pot comes out of the kiln. Takes the wonder out of it, I think. "Yes, ma'am. You can get a coffee mug for $3.95 at the Big Chain Store in town. So can 11 million other folks. No one else on the planet gets THIS mug, just you."

On another "Cure the Blues" thought: I bought "500 Bowls" as a present for someone else. Couldn't resist looking at it before wrapping it. Saw some work by folks I know, saw a lot work I want to be able to emulate. Not copy, just emulate. WOW! If you ever need inspiration, $25 will give you 500 ideas.

Good going, Mel. What a Thanksgiving present! When do I get to buy one? :o)
