itc/kiln companies

each vendor has their own opinion on itc.
fear rules.

anything that may spall off scares the pee out of
kiln manufacturers. itc does not spall.

i doubt it will change for any of them...they have their own
fear factor.

anyway, it is easier to do a year later.
get the kiln broken in. then do your own.
i no longer harp at kiln folks. itc is a personal decision.

lewicky from L&L was at my home for dinner a bit
back. we just skipped talking about itc. makes for
un/comfort. john at paragon has done some itc work
for special applications...howard does it all the time.
skutt will have nothing to do with itc.
so, that is the way it is. their choice.
YOU pick the kiln you want, most are close
in specs. as we have said here before, check the relays,
the switches...that is where the cheapness can be found.

the bricks, coils, connections on most of them are very much
the same. how they are engineered, and the lid braces make
a big difference.
everyone knows that skutt coils pop out of the channels after
a few firings. always have, probably always will. still a fine
kiln.
L&L is working hard to make great kilns, so is paragon.
good folks...trying hard to please potters.
they listen, and for sure:
THERE IS A GREAT DEAL OF `PILOT ERROR` IN FIRING KILNS.

Well, I guess I've been lucky! I have a Skutt 1027, about 12 years old now,
and have had absolutely NO coils popping out or sagging...neither the
originals, nor the replacements.

Just had to stick up for my Skutt here.

Good firings,
