kilns/part two (itc in electric kilns)

Paragon offers ITC coating on the bricks as an option. Not many people have
ordered it, though. We currently do not offer ITC coating on elements. The
element wire manufacturer is skeptical of ITC coating. That is probably the
main reason most kiln manufacturers do not offer ITC coating on elements.

If the kiln owner coats the bricks and/or elements with ITC, we no longer
warranty the bricks or elements. However, the warranty on the switch box and
its electrical components is still okay. The reason Paragon voids the
warranty on bricks and elements is concern that the ITC will be applied
incorrectly.

I should think that kiln companies may be less
afraid of what an aftermarket ITC job would to
to the elements and bricks than of what an
amateur re-connection of the electrical system
might do. I can see them not wanting to warrant
anything once the connections have been tinkered
with, and can't really blame them.

I'm curious. Among those folks who've bought
brand-new, warrantied kilns, how many have had
difficulties within the warranty period. Not
how many were honored, necessarily - I'm not
asking about company support but about defects
in manufacture and 'out-of'the-box' reliablity.
How many kilns actually need their warranty?
