Yep it is done. I use a professional lab in Tucson. Emailed them a high resolution jpg and they had slides 2 days later. I could not see any degradation to notice. As I recall it was $12 a slide.

I have gotten slides from digital files from www.slides.com for about $5.00
each. They were excellent quality.
