i again had the opportunity to find
a naughty nag/cookie on my computer.
it was slowing things down, and getting
me very angry.
mail was slow, things were bogging down.
i ran my SpyBot program...and bingo, there
was a nasty downloaded program, cookie that
was making my computer go wacky. (note all the
scientific terms used by computer people to
illustrate problems.)
i cannot stress enough to folks on clayart that
much of what we think is the fault of ms/xp or win 98
are downloaded/semi virus` that bog down the works.
i run SpyBot once a week, and update it every month.
i also run defrag once a month.
my computer is running twice as fast right now than
it did last week. clean as a whistle.
it is just like taking your car or truck to a great
mechanic, and getting it all set back to factory specs.
it just runs better.

I've been using Spybot Search And Destroy a good while and love it . I have
recomended it to people whose computors just about wouldn't work and the
ran fine . I also run another free program called Spyware Blaster . It
"inoculates" your computor . Wont let many bad things on in the first place
. I think that they are good to use in tandem . After installing Spyware
Blaster you just let it run in the background .

Mel tells it like it is:
You got to keep your system clean and protected.
# 1 is having a good anti virus program installed, then make sure it
updates virus deffinitions just about daily, then make sure it runs an
automatic full scan at least once a week.
# 2 is doing regular housekeeping on your opporating system. Make sure
it is set for regular updates, like from Microsoft. Then use those
Utilities to clean up the system and check for problems. Do a disc scan
every few weeks and make sure that includes a Registry Check. Also do a
complete Defragment at least once a month.
# 3 get a Fire Wall software and install.
All this may seem like a lot of work, but it only takes a few hours a
month and most of it is done automaticly by setting up Settings.
If you don't feel comfortable setting up this stuff get a computer savy
friend to help. It is relatively easy an takes about an hour. Make your
friend a nice pot or yummy lunch in payment.
