Hi all;

The Turner Prize is a media event to raise profile in British art. Everybod=
y
knows that it's going to be shocking. It's getting everyday people to go se=
e
art and talking about it.

A few years ago, the Sensation show went to Brooklyn and Mayor Guiliani was
condemning it, especially the painting with the elephant dung. Then the lin=
e
went around the block at the museum.

Last month, I went to a talk at the Tate Britain where Oliver James
interview Grayson Perry. The topic was "Sex and Ceramics". The interview wa=
s
disappointing. All Oliver wanted to know was if Grayson is gay and his
childhood. I thought; leave it for the therapist; it has little to do with
the work. [he looked disappointed when G said that he isn't] They make it
like all artsy and stuff and Grayson is playing along in his T-shirt and
jeans. The slide show that Grayson gave was excellent. His progression of
work in the last 20 years, as well his fashion sense. He's very funny and h=
e
has a nice personality. He is actually quite rough despite his frock.

BTW, his pots are not thrown; they are coiled.

His frock cost =A32,500. He's been designing it since summer-just in case he
won, he said on the morning TV show.

Best regards
May
