Michele, years ago I was not happy with the results I was getting from
the few premix glazes that I used while still in school. They were not
Laguna though and I have no reason to think that they don't have a
consistent product which has probably been used to successfully glaze tens
of thousands of pots. Otherwise they would'nt be in glaze biz.
What I ended up doing was mixing my own glazes. Been doing it ever
since. I believe it imparts a quality that I just don't see in premix glazes
not to mention the savings in cost. You are correct....pre made glazes are
expensive. I can see why you would want a different response than the good
ole you kinda gotta expect some inconsistencies despite our best efforts.
A good place to start if you are not familar is Ron and Jons book
"Matering Cone Six Glazes." It's dynamite!
