Thanks to all of you who gave advice on purchasing a new wheel.
Since I am purchasing this for home and am a new teacher (with moving
expenses and related financial restrictions) I have narrowed the field to
the Artista or the Pacifica GT400 if I can squeeze the $$$.
The Artista is appealing because of price and portability. Also, I don't
foresee getting into very large projects. There have been many positive
reviews on it. Here's the big question though,... Would it be good for a
first, and probably ONLY wheel, for a beginner to learn on?
I'm really a painter, but dang, this clay is addicting! I'm thinking
perhaps I should go with something I can grow into? The Pacifica (I'd get
the GT400) wheels seem to have a great and loyal following. Or, do you
think the portable one would be enough?
Thanks again,
Lorene

I have one, and I can't think of a reason why you couldn't learn to throw on
it. By the way, when I talked to the people at Creative Industries, the man I
talked to said that he put it on the floor, put FIFTY pounds of clay on it,
and used all its weight to center, and it had no problem.
I like it very, very much.
