My Sig. Oth. is considering a job in the town of Sherman,
TX, just north of Dallas. Anyone out there have thoughts
on life in Sherman and its environs? What's it like there?
I know it's not far from the University of North Texas and
its MFA program - anyone have thoughts on UNT?

Well, for starts it is HOT in Sherman - and all that part of
Texas - for a minimum of six months a year. The terrain is
flat to slightly rolling, it's mostly farm/ranch land, minus the
cities, of course. Sherman is not large, there are a number
of artists there, and some galleries. Some nice folks. Sherman
is a goodish drive from Denton/UNT.
UNT has an excellent physical plant for ceramics as well as
painting, printmaking, etc. Two ceramics faculty, Elmer Taylor and
Jerry Austin. They have ten to twelve ceramics grads, usually.
Ten or fifteen kilns, gas, wood, salt - good equipment. A huge
undergraduate art department - 1600 majors, or more. Email me
off list for more info if you want it.
