Hello,
I have a 5' x 5' gas kiln. I couldn't get all my pots in my last load and I
would like to fire the remainder. I have about a third of a kiln of pots. I
could probably stretch it out to about half full (loose). How would the
firing be affected? Would it reach temperature? (cone 9/10)

This is just my opinion, others may differ. I wouldn't. I'm sure it
would reach ^10, but you would be wasting fuel. The reduction may also
be affected as well. You want some tightness, the pots play off each
other. But not too tight to choke off the kiln. I've found 1/2 - 3/4
spacing to work for the amount of reduction that I want. Anything too
open will cause problems...to much oxidation.
