I have used baking soda as the abrasive powder along with a scrubby to
remove darkened areas from Raku surfaces. On smaller areas a tooth brush and
baking soda. Sometimes even toothpaste works. Better to clean Raku soon
after firing as possible. The longer it sits the harder it is to remove. For
Christmas red copper glazes that may re-oxidize to blue over time, I let the
piece dry thoroughly, pour a small amount of clear tile sealer on the inside
and roll to coat the walls. Then brush a light coat of tile sealer on the
outside. Works for me.

Didn't feel much like Christmas here yesterday with a high temperature of 78
degrees. I want to wish all the ClayArt people a safe, healthy and happy
holiday season! Going "no-mail" as we travel back to a much cooler Nashville
to visit family and friends until after the New Year. God bless us all.
HAPPY NEW YEAR!
