Surfing with Helen Bates - John Glick's new web site - December 26th., 2003

Dear Clayarters,

I discovered this fine web site yesterday, and have been enjoying
visiting its various sections today. I am sure that the readers of my
posts "Surfing with Helen Bates" will likewise find themselves
entranced. Mr. Glick has provided a number of views of his pots and
sculptures, and some detailed photos of his surfaces, which are very
rich visually.

Have a lovely browse!

PS:

Regarding the links to articles by or about John Glick on
:

Most of the articles referred to in the "articles" and "about" pages are
not available to be read online.

I have provided below a synopsis of information about the writings the
site refers to, and to what information there is about them on the
internet.

Studio Potter:

Two of the Studio Pottery articles are available online. The following
urls link directly to these:
* Toward Humanism in Apprenticeships:

* To Sciatica and Back: A Potter's Journey:

Ceramic Art and Perception:
The C A & P site lists two issues with articles by or about John Glick:

They are not available online.

Regarding the link for Samantha Krukowski's "John Glick's Journeys and
Evolutions, Interview" Ceramics: Art and Perception, No. 9, 1992:
:
The above link will be redirected to:
.
When one has entered this site by clicking on the image, selecting the
link: "Texts" will direct the browser to the link below:
.
The texts are sorted in descending order by year; the English version of
the article is in the 1992 section. The direct link for this is:
.

Ceramics Monthly:

I checked through the "Must Reads" and the "Current Issue" to be sure.
There are no articles online at CM by or about John Glick. The magazine
does have a searchable "Index" of articles. Typing "John Glick" in the
search box will bring up the list of relevant articles, but none of them
are online. There is a "Back Issues" page where one can check for any
back issues that remain available. Presumably (although it is not
mentioned specifically), the magazine can provide photocopies of
individual articles at a nominal cost.

American Craft Magazine
The magazine is online at:

However, none of the articles referred to on Glick's site are online.
All of the magazine's back issues remain available for purchase.

Ceramic Review:

The magazine has an archive listing all the issues since 1970, with the
titles and authors of the individual articles, and a searchable index in
which either potters or article contributors may be entered. Some back
issues may be available; for those that are not, photocopies of
individual articles may be purchased.

Ceramica (or Ceramica-Keramikos):
This magazine has no online presence.
It's geographical mailing address is:
Ceramica
Antonio Vivas, Editor
Apartado 708, Paseo de Acacias 9,
28005 Madrid, Spain

PPS: There is a good gallery in Iowa City, IA, USA with more of John's
work online. I'll be writing about this later.
