Dear Charles,

An interesting recipe but one which, in my opinion, is not melting to a =
degree where the surface of the clay is being wetted at cone #6.

Kona F-4 Feldspar 28.8 Nepheline Syenite 40.1 Strontium Carbonate 21.5 =
Silica 9.6 Add: Black Iron Oxide 6%

I think you are making an assumption that everything is being melted =
when you kiln cuts out and that your modification of the cooling cycle =
is allowing microcrystallisation to happen. In searching for an answer =
to your problem it might be wise to test this concept.

Although Strontium Carbonate and its oxide are lauded as fluxes, the =
former has a stated decomposition temperature of 1340=BAC and the latter =
a melting point of 2430=BAC. Information in "Hamer's Dictionary" is at =
variance with three standard reference texts on this point.

Best regards,
