if you must grind, leather gloves, osha approved eye protection, leather
apron to keep your insides inside and skin neetly on your surface. also
protects against clothing getting wound up and torn. someone already
mentioned breathing mask. these tools are dangerous. especially the size
needed to do an efficient job.

Better always, to prevent those drips and runs from becoming a problem.

thin pads of fired clay, drip catch saucers, or whole thin shelf liners of
same will protect your shelves during test runs on a new glaze or that
always troublesome but can't live without glaze that is so wonderful when it
...... the little epk/alumina balls "smart pills' we elmers glue to the
feet of ware for wood and salt fireing are great to level your piece on the
no doubt somewhat warped clay pad. these work also to raise the pot so
sometimes the drip simply slumps and doesnt become a run which "welds" the
pot to the shelf.

there is no substitute for testing, testing, testing, educating self, and
having the courage to adjust.

Happy trails....
