When I was a technician in the Met lab reading phase changes we would =
take our thermocouples down to the Pyro Lab for servicing. They used Oxy =
Hydrogen burner to do the welding. Not sure why but it may have had =
something to do with contamination by carbon which can embattle some =
alloys.
