Hi Craig,
I am curious to know how you make the break between instruction time and
practice time. Do you agree in advance that you will be at their elbow so
to speak for a set amount of time and after that, it's independent sutdy.
Presumably, you are stil around...
Thanks,
Carol

Carol, I charge them for the instruciton time when I am literally at
their elbow or demonstrating, explaining, etc., after that they are swimming
on their own. Independent study is an accurate way to describe the practice
time. I usually try and get a student to practice for at least an hour after
a lesson while they still have a good memory of what we have gone through. I
then encourage folks to come on their own in the evenings, night or on
weekends.I emphasize the need to practice on a regular basis if one is to
ever become proficient at throwing.
I never have many students. No more than six or so. Right now I've got
three who are coming on a weekly basis. We use a clipboard with a sign
in/out sheet that is catagorized into name, time in, time out, lesson,
practice, materials/firing.
