When I was teaching HS I would have each student make some 2-3" textured
circular test tiles with a hole for hanging on a board. A good way to show
how to roll slabs and make textures from whatever they can find in the art
room. After bisque firing they would glaze them and write the name of the
glaze or glaze combinations on the back with oxides or underglaze pencils.
They were then hung on a board with finishing nails. They are easily
removed to check the name. If I had put a name on the board under the tile,
I'm sure they would be mixed up within a week.
