Hi,
As for cleaning green ware, I had a problem with the glaze not staying on the rims of my thrown pots. My teacher explained that it is because I cleaned them (rims & lips) of with water, witch takes away the top layer of clay, and that often makes the glaze crawl.
Now I use a wooden tool or rubber just to smooth out any inconsistencies.
