warts/tumors on fired pots

Afternoon Gordon

The problem is most likely in your bisque firing. You need to go =
slow/hold while you are burning off the carbon in the clay. Is there =
any grolleg in the body? My worst experiences with warts/tumors were =
with a grolleg body. I believe it is a problem with any fine body high =
in ball clay.

It will not show up in the bisque ware and only after glaze firing. Not =
likely the glazes at fault. How high are you firing your bisque - I =
think generally, cone 04 is the preferred/suggested range. If you have =
some unglazed bisque - refire it with next bisque load and hopefully no =
more warts. MarjB.
