mochaware: cider vinegar and copper carb

Hi all;

I had done a test in mochaware yesterday. I looked in the archive and found
that I can use Apple cider vinegar rather than cooking tobacco juice.

My notes from the archive said; apple cider vinegar, Acid PH:6. 1 pint juice
to 30gm stain.

What I had; cider vinegar-100 cc, acid PH 5.5 [from the label], copper carb:
10 gm.

Result: the copper carb sank to the bottom of vinegar very fast, but I
stirred it very well. use a baby ear cleaner to fresh slip [double cream
consistancy, ball clay and turq stain slip mix] one drop of mixture gave me
very faint branches. Not very suceesful.

Anyways I can improve this? I was going for a green branch- trying to do a
goldfish aquarium thing.

Thank you in advance

Dear May,

I think you will find that the copper carb available in the UK is way
too coarse for this technique, I would use a finely ground green stain
or underglaze powder instead. Mocha traditionally used Manganese Dioxide
which commonly is very fine and so stays in suspension longer.
