I've never had an issue with bloating porcelain, but I have noted
that reclaiming/drying out porcelain trimmings & slop/slurry, areas
of almost dried white powder are found in the clay. Assume this is
feldspar and even with blunging wondering if small unmixed bits in
the body could contribute to bloating?

Interesting post William,
I just threw about 20 lbs of reclaim Grolleg into a couple of tea pots and mugs and came across bits of tough dried particles during throwing and after a good wedge. I was wondering where these imposters came from as they were not inferior.
Your words, bloating....I am in vision of swells and soft lumps....are you talking wet, green, or post fire? ~ for my notes.....
Peace,
Pamela

Bloating would happen in the glaze firing/firing to mature/vitrified
clay temperature.

I think Bill may be right - I have seen this before - and I do think the
white bits are feldspar - it certainly would explain what is happening.
