Phil,

Karen Carpenter, poor soul, wouldn't have eaten that sandwhich anyway.
And Mama Cass had more problems than food.

Hi, Eleanor,

We are predjudice as to what we classify beauty in our society. I =
have watched many programs=20
on indigenous people in other countries. These (I don't want to say =
primitive, doesn't seem PC)=20
"untarnished" peoples are practicing their culture much the same as they =
have for centuries.=20
A big behind was (and still is) a prized possession, as were (are) big =
breasts and a big belly. That=20
meant you were someone of prominence, someone who was of higher standing =
in the group (a leader's=20
daughter, a female shaman, in a matriarchal society, who knows). They =
had the goods to add the weight.=20
Wide hips, easier and successful births. It meant you were healthy and =
would survive when survival=20
past birth was not a given. Plus your presence in the group would =
probably help to ensure survival of the species.=20
I happen to find these little goddess quite beautiful and a =
reminder that we (society as a whole)
take too much for granted. Face it, unless your one heck of a girl =
scout, boy scout, survivalist (something=20
that I tried to teach my children, learn how to save and grow seed and =
collect from the wild) if something=20
actually happened, our numbers would go down REALLY fast.
And we must remember, they aged more rapidly. Life was hard An old =
grandma may have been forty, yikes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
