I have a friend who is the local 4H director, I've done pots with the kids
for the past several years, during a Super Saturday event. I've never
worried about long hair wrapping in the wheel or any other foolish thing
that might happen..
This year,, she and another friend that is student teaching have asked me to
do Raku with their students. The thought of someone picking up a hot pot
does concern me.
Question is ,,
Should I do it at their place, or mine??? Possible liability for burns
etc???
Then I've wondered about getting permission to raku at a school, or should
we just go under the old saying
Its easier to beg forgiveness than ask permission..??

Please, please be VERY careful, in fact, better yet, stop doing this.
Throwing sawdust into a container that provides a source of ignition
- red hot pot or flames - could potentially be a disaster! Fine
particle sawdust can EXPLODE into a fire ball and lead to serious
burns. Better to throw a wad of shredded newspaper that will burn
just as easily, but not erupt into a ball of flame.
