and not making light of the power of fuels and fire,,,,

One of my instructors once built a fire underneath his propane tank to
finish a firing. Although its not advisable, it is very unlikely you could
blow yourself up as the propane has a means to escape.

I raku in shorts too! I find I am much more aware of the heat in terms of
knowing how close to be. But do wear boots!

Tony,

Thats what I had been led to believe by some of the potters
that taught me , but then again
that was in the late 60's and early 70's...........
due to the nature of "The Sixties" ie:(if you can remember them,
you weren't really there): I wonder if I might have been
inhaling too many kiln fumes at the time.............

I think we have learned to be much more cognizant about the
health abd safety issues as well as the
risks since then and we must put these into practice and teach
others to respect the power of heat and fire and fuels.

I do know people , potters that I respect immensely,
who have lost thier entire studios due to careless use
of kilns and fuels. Nuff said!!!

is being an old hippie part of a tradition or is it now history!!
Winter is a time to ponder in cold Manitoba!

- curiousities respecting their rotational propensities...

Hi Maurice, all...

Respecting the direction of rotational propensities in
respective
hemispheres, one may consult the following url:

http://www.idleworm.com/mov/strpt.shtml

While not comprehensive, and, a few years old now (from
billclinton's time of the monicalowenski and that other
whatshernamebroad notariety), it is maybe of some interest
none-the-less...) and 'patriotic' to boot!

Best wishes,
