Hi,
I have found some diamond encrusted foam pads and so far they are
great. I got mine from Master Wholesale in Seattle.

(you may have to copy and paste the web address.)
I can not say how well they hold up, since I do not do production
anymore, but I am using them on my woodfired work and they are holding
up so far.
YMMV

sorry to bother you again but I went back to the website and saw that there
were two different types of pads. If you have both types, could you
describe them and tell me if any kind of holder is necessary for either one?
Thanks again.
Linda

Hi Linda,
I looked at that web page too, and it looks like only the lower down
item is a "foam pad" and I think that is the one Richard means. Since
it's cushiony it probably is better for pot bottoms than the upper item
which is flat and has a handle option. Also the foam one seems to not
have an option for a handle since it's thicker..
My question is what grit to use. I'm going to look at the grits of some
sand paper I have and decide that way....
Jennifer, a sucker for a new tool...

Hello Jennifer and anyone else who finds this of interest,
I checked with Richard and he bought the pack of several grits but he said
he uses 120 - 220 grit I think.
I didn't want to buy the pack so I ordered a 120 grit with the foam back.
The company did not charge shipping.
I didn't want to go so fine that it would take too much work and wear the
pad out too soon and I didn't
want to go to coarse - I know that 80 grit sandpaper makes a nice difference
so 120 seemed logical.
