layering glazes/ a pep talk

I just want to say that I have developed a style of layered glazes.=20

I have always worked with two to three base glazes, four or five =
slips, oxide washes,=20
and other glazes as part of the total composition. I don't know much =
about glaze composition,
and I am much more interested in color compatibility than anything else.

All you have to do is try two glazes side by side with some overlap.
Try it on a flat plate, try it on the side of a vase. If it is ugly, =
or runs too much, try something else.=20
There are many effects that I love that I only use inside a bowl, or on =
top of a plate.

Think in terms of painting, and develope a palette. Think in terms of =
what the flow of,
say, an oribe semi covered with a blue matt, decorated with rutile slip =
would look like. =20
Use it on an inner wall of a bowl. Keep saying, "it's only clay" and =
experiment,
but don't worry about the formulars, use your eyes. If you look at my =
website,=20
you will understand what I mean.

Not everything has to be difficult, and technical. For me, it has to be =
interesting first, or I don't use it.
The excitment of clay is in the surprises.
