I lament to say, as do several of my more critical friends, that there =
seems to be a lot of confusion in the traffic between my port and =
starboard brains. I think ideas are coming home tired and drunk from =
too much sun, and stalling their V-hicles and like that. It all is like =
Sunday night traffic on a Major Bridge in August. And I agree with =
those who argue that punning actually is a brain malfunction. I am glad =
to hear the traffic in your brain is running smoothly.

Having said that--it is I who suggested the wine/vinegar/lemon juice etc =
analogy. I meant to illustrate that while an actual molecular formula =
will give you the relative work of an ingredient--in this cooking =
example I refered to acidity as shown by litmus paper--the flavor cannot =
be explained in that way.

I was not refering to Art which I do not understand and do not discuss. =
As far as I can tell clay and glaze ARE about knowledge, and only =
knowledge "frees" any artistic results. It is fine to know what a =
violin is made of, what makes a good vs a bad violin and on and on--but =
to play a decent tune on a fiddle takes KNOWLEDGE AND PRACTICE AND WORK. =
All the splendid glazes I know of were achieved by repeated testing. =20

These are a part of the mix, but we shouldn't forget:

inspiration, talent, perception
and feeling.

In our industrial, mass-market, assembly line culture, we have
embraced the former and neglected the latter.
