OK-I need to know this. Kelly has bought a killer black dress for the =
opening of NCECA and the Clayart Shindig. I hadn't even thought of =
packing a dress. Was thinking a skirt (maybe) and my jeans. Is there =
really an event where we will be dressing up (I do love to play dress up =
once in awhile)? Let me know if I need to go shopping-any excuse will =
do. I thought Mel was going to be a Viking or something of that nature. =
Weren't some of the ladies going to go in breastplates and blond =
pigtails, or was that some of the men? =20

Never having been much of a clothes horse,
OR a fashion maven, I have to second Dolita's
post. What DOES one wear (or plan to wear) to
NCECA? (Tony's uncle's undies notwithstanding)

Hi Dolita,
You will find that people wear anything from jeans to dresses to RED
HEELS (right Merrie?). The conference is always in a really nice
hotel, and I always like the chance to dress up a little. I take
jeans, skirts, nice jacket, this year heels are going in the bag.
There is the dance on friday night, by the way, anyone know what kind
of music it is going to be? People also go out to eat every evening,
and depending on where you go, jeans might not fit in.
I kind of like a chance to get out of my everyday outfit, and dress
up for a change.
Wear what ever makes you feel comfortable.

I totally agree with Liz. Staying in a nice hotel is a good oportunity to dress up. They are long days and you want to look great but also relaxed. And I"ll pack a long black velvet skirt for the dance. ( my jeans will stay home)

Let's see.
Now that some of the opinions are in, here's what
I've come up with for a list of clothing appropriate
for NCECA:
A killer black dress
speedos
heels
a horned helmet
blond braids
Tony's uncle's undies
and someone a while ago mentioned a boa
I simply MUST remember to bring the camera (digital).
This is going to be a "must-see" event!
Ok, I'll shut up now...LOL!

Wayne-You forgot to list the breast plate and the shield. And now
apparently there is a dance. That opens up a whole new avenue.

Jeans or one step up from that will be what most people will be wearing most
of the time. But at the dance on Friday night, ANYTHING goes. I don't
dance myself, but I do enjoy seeing the wild clothes, hair, tattoos,
jewelry, and piercings. And all that skin.
Just be sure to bring your most comfortable shoes. You will be on your feet
A LOT!

Dolita:
For that "shake your bootie" dress, I consulted a few drag queen
friends. Not my thing, I'm afraid.
One said "You can't go wrong with sequins...lots of sequins. Black
for formal, red for that (balance of comment deleted because it made
me go bright red.)
The second one said "Darlin' beads. glass beads on the hem!" When
I pushed, (s)he said "you know, honey, like those flappers used to
wear. Excuse me, I need a cocktail"
The third one recommended "F___ me pumps (stiletto heels), and a
good feather boa, but they both have to match your bag."
Hmmmm, a breastplate and shield...should they match the bag and the
shoes, or the horned helmet? ROFL
You go girl!

You're dealing with a bunch of potters at NCECA, so of course the answer is
that you can wear whatever you are comfortable wearing, or if you choose,
you can temporarily remanufacture yourself via costume. Different potters
like to wear different things. The only thing you cannot wear at NCECA that
lots of potters like to wear is nothin' at all (unless you are Paul
Soldner).

Most of us just stay in our jeans throughout the conference.

I'm not bring a dress, just too much to pack along with the matching shoes
and bag. And then it gets all rumpled in the bag and you have to iron it,
no way.
If I need shoes, I'll borrow Merrie's. I love red!

Yall are a bunch of wild and crazy guys !
Rumor has it that there was a growing mound of clothes in the middle of
the dance floor last year. Good place for Russel and David H. to shop for
accessories. I'll let yall fight over my shoes.....but, I want that fish
purse and a vest out of it ;>)
My Mama always said, " The best part about a trip is the packing and the
anticipation !"
Enough of this nonsense.....I'm going to get busy making some pots....big
ones....out of clay.....to fire with wood.

Merrie,
The pile is no rumor, it actually happened .... that would have been =
Thursday night. Can you imagine Tom Buck in the middle of the fray =
dancing to Afro-Cuban music? Well, believe it because it happened, and =
boy did we have fun.=20
You just never know what will happen at NCECA.
Enjoy, Linda
