Glaze tested on white midrange stoneware fired in electric oxidation to =
1220c.

Firing ramp:
100c p/h to 600c (212f - 1112f)
150c p/h to 1100c (330f - 2012f)=20
100c p/h to 1220c (212f - 2228f)
5 min. soak
cool down max. to 800c
Hold 1 hour
Shut off kiln

Recipe:

20 Kona F-4
31 Gersetly Borate
5 EPK
14 Talc
30 Silica

ADD
15 RIO
2.0 Bentonite

Note: All raw materials are measured up or down to the nearest whole =
decimal. =20
Colorants or additives to a 100 gram test batch are measured in percent =
to the 100 gram test batch.

Substitutions:

Frit J for Gerstely Borate
TWVD Ball Clay for Kona F-4

Results:
A gloss glaze that is dark brown. It is slightly less glassy on the =
surface than the typical recipe of=20
50 G.B., 30 Kaolin and 20 Silica.

Hello Alisa,

I see your recipe below is exactly the same as one I have, named Touchtone
Red, and I get a gorgeous iron red with it. (firing cone 7 ox). I guess your
2 substitutions must make the difference. Also, I am using Kingman feldspar.
I have noticed that a few weeks after mixing, it comes out slightly redder,
but that may not happen with your recipe.
