clayart pain in the hands

For 25yrs I worked as a VW mechanic. I also worked in clay. Now that I am
50ish, my wrists and fingers sometimes ache. I also went to the doctors and each
one said to take pain relievers or surgery. NO WAY JOSE' !!!!!!!!!! I got
me one of those splints for my wrists to wear at night and used them until
they fell apart. I am now relatively pain free. Oh, yes, I did modify the way
that I work: no more pounding clay, somewhat softer clay, I raised my
wedging table just a bit so that I wasn't pushing down as much, and that, my
friends, has done me a world of good. Just taking control of what 'I' can do as
opposed to looking for 'outside' help.
Hope some of this will work for others.
