As far as our show is concerned, they become a set when the artist
decides to enter them that way, and has them photographed on one
slide.

In any self-respecting exhibition criteria, a set is considered a single
entry, and should be photographed in a single slide.

Merrie, photograph however many of the
pieces you want as the entry in ONE slide.
That's how it's done. Not too long ago there
was a group of bottles on the cover of CM,
woodfired by whatizname teaching at Northern
Arizona U. He often makes slides of a group
of items, and so do others (Matt Long comes
to mind). No reason not to - it's YOUR work
submit it how you like it.
