I emailed Deborah Bedwell at Balto Clayworks today about some questions =
I had re: ground transportation in Balto as well as the conference =
hotel. Here is what she said:
"There is NO specific conference hotel - All conference programs are =
being held at the convention center. Hotels that plan to offer =
conference rates are /should be available from NCECA, and are clustered =
around the Convention Center.
About transportation: Cheap and plentiful.Check out the MD Dept. of =
Transportation website www.mtamaryland.com looking especially for the =
LIGHT RAIL, a train that you can get at the airport or train station and =
for under $2, go from one end of town to the other, moving just next to =
the convention center and the hotel zone, up through the "cultural =
corridor" where many exhibitions are sited, north to Clayworks."
Woo HOO! :) Glad to hear there's good public transportation.

Baltimore Washington Airport is a major South Western Hub, as a result, most
airlines are priced to be competitive with SW Airlines....... if you try to
fly into National or Dulles, it could be a bit more expensive

national airport is an hour away (if you are lucky) and Dulles is over an
hour and a half away....just FYI.
BWI is the best bet and the rates are always cheaper in and out of that
airport.
See you all at next NCECA!

When we go to DC, we always fly into Baltimore and take the Metro
into Union Station in Washington. There's a shuttle bus that links
the airline with the train system, so it's a minor flap, but do-able
for the savings in $.
The same train line runs to New York, so a tack-on to the city might
be a consideration--take a few days and visit New York's great
museums. I've always want to camp out at the Metropolitan.
