Hi...Good to be back on ...There is not a lot of information on the net on
Peruvian double chambered
whistling vessels which have water added.........they make a really
otherwordly sound, mine do....Is that what you mean by "water whistle"?? I
don't know what's going on in the rest of the world, so may not be on your
wave length. we are making musical drums, instruments of several kinds for
an exibition with a drum maker in late summer....Mayan music with ceramic
instruments......I have made quite a few whistles.....mostly for addition to
a longer piece of some kind......if it whistles when you make it
green.......it will whistle later......don't blow too many times, or you are
adding moisture each time you blow, either it works with a few tweakings, or
it won't.....so sit down and make a half dozen or so "ends" and see if they
blow............I have made peruvian double chambered whistling
vessels.......is that what you are talking about? They are the
same.......get the whistle part to blow.......quit blowing in it, to stop
adding moisture, which could and will change the configuration of the thing,
and then attach it to whatever.......for what it's worth, Venancio Ixcoy, my
bird maker, has orders frequently, and one now, for 225 DOZEN whistles in
various animal shapes for export, and gets $1.60 a DOZEN for them made,
fired, detail painted in acrylics......and all must "blow" ..by the way,
uses a kiln built by Lowell Baker here, with wood, and a computer
fan......works great........four sticks of stovewood..............Lowell
came and helped, you should too..........................Melinda
