every clayarter out there in clayart land
should know how to adjust the speed control
on your wheel. find out.
even if you are a hand builder, and do not have
a wheel. learn it anyway.
it is so important.
wheels come from the factory running at full rpm.
it is crazy.
no one in the world can use that speed.
it is just far too fast.
i have all my wheels set to run at a speed that
is `just over full speed for a kick wheel`.
we have been filled with old lectures and theories
on wheel speed.
`get up a good head of steam, get it going for
centering`.
all of that theory came from kick wheels.
and we still use the theory on high speed motor
driven wheels.
it is totally stupid, dumb, insane....(do i make myself
clear here/)
you can set your wheel for one speed. let it run all
day at a nice throwing speed. centering is just as easy.
you have full torque. that is what is needed, power, not
speed.
many young throwers never catch on, the wheel is over powering them.
just think a bit about physics, and screw art when learning to throw.
it is skill.
physics.
and more skill.
ask any old time thrower...they get slower and slower.
but, the hands work faster and faster.
skill.
