Kelly from Ohio says

"what the heck I can do with 21
daisy/brownie girl scouts this friday, involving clay and somehow
relevant to earth day... any suggestions?"

Hi Kelly,

Just off the top of my head, I'm thinking that bowls press molded into
disposable paper bowls or plastic(oh no getting myself in trouble on earth day
environmental issues here). Hmmm-let me finish my idea first. Kindergarten,1st and
2nd graders should be able to do this with some help . Then collect leaves
that they also can identify for badge work and rub them into the bowls. Of course
iron oxide would be a nice touch. Showing them raw clay outside in nature
would be cool too. If you have to do this in airdry type clay I'm sure it would
work too, maybe painting with a paint.

The other thought is somehow making flower pots and either using the leaves
or having them draw flowers and plants ,fire them and have them plant seeds or
give seed packs in them for Mother's Day.

Now about what to press mold in, we have bisque reuseable molds at the art
center, the idea of buying disposable things for earth day somehow doesn't sound
right does it-I don't know, it may be just the right thing to be able to
bring up the topic-recycle,reuse. I use plastic disposable cups sometimes (it's
sad how many times I've put them through the dishwasher and reused them-and now
they probably are in the group in the garage for paint projects)Got to mold
the little minds early.

Sorry I no longer have a Brownie book around but the leader may be able to
incorporate some badge ideas too. I think that there is an animal badge too.
Hmmm-bird feeder platter style with leave shapes on it and three holes around the
rim to hang it from a tree?

Hope this helps

time hopefully it will be summer!Saw many many beautiful tiles and left my
own. Thanks to the Kaisers for the experience.
