When you make extra slides by shooting a whole roll of slide film, you have
a set of original slides. From my experience, even the best duplicate slides
are not as sharp as the original. If the slide is for publication, I would
send an original slide and not a duplicate.

Arnold - maybe I am missing something, but duplicates are fairly
inexpensive,
especially if done in large(r) quantities ....... I think I pay 65 cents
each
