i just want to let you all know that many have
sent me a check for arti.
it makes me smile, and sad all at the same time. one gal said that she was
always mad at arti, got all riled from his posts, but
wanted send a bit of money anyway. man, that brings tears.
we have more than enough to cover things. i have put
some money away for another project like this when
we need it. and we will need it.
i have a great source for computers, decent folks, that know
what service and giving is about. they will help again, when
we need them.
clayart has some projects going. we may be getting a block
of rooms for baltimore. one hotel, all of us in the same place.
(but, not all in my room...kurt is enough..geez.)
we may open it up to others, sorta potters council/clayart/
one hotel. then we can have the clayart room there, and some
programs.
i keep on wondering about how much talent and knowledge we have
in our vendors. stuff we can learn. like howard arnold, showing
us how a kiln works, slides and how to take them, how to
get ready to send a manuscript to cm...have sherman talk to us.
or tim frederick talk about pmi. it just makes sense to me.
use the people that are in the know. we could have small group
programs going all day long. not hard to organize.
and make it casual. not a big deal.
use the clayart room as a learning tool, then time to shmooz
and laugh. i remember with fascination sitting next to sheila
clennel, as she made one of her teapot handles.....`goddamn...she
is right here, showing us`, here in the clayart room.
and, yes, we did meet many new friends. dolita was as expected.
full of life, a laugh and smile, taking care of friends. as it should
be. i love to think of jean lehman, scooting in her scooter. a smile
and positive attitude all the time. we should have her talk about
the show she puts on each year. man, her stories would be wonderful.
or, we could have joyce give lessons in spotting wild life on the desert.
slides and a lecture.
so, nice to think that we are already planning baltimore.
but, we want to be first. get in there at the beginning.
let's see. boner, no boerrner, no bummer, broener, merrie
broeneer. damn her, makin fun of me.

wait til you see the cm article on judith duff, i was privileged to work
on that piece. the work of a fine potter, a woman of energy and
craft. no lump of clay there. and her train kiln is a piece of magic.
if you want to see the work of potters, men and women, they
need to be presented. lots of potters do not send in stuff. they
are waiting to be discovered...it will not happen.
get your asses in gear. how long does it take to write three pages?
take a few pix. fear is what must be conquered. fear. and the fear
of rejection.
