soil ph tester of use for glaze reconditioning?

Hi All,

Always watching for bargains. Latest Harbor freight features a
soil pH tester (item#00504) on sale for $2.29. The catalog doesn't
say much except "accurate for on-the-spot pH measurement".
It's electronic, looks like a pretty nice system, it has a analog dial
like an old fashioned volt meter.

I called for additional info and learned that it has a Bi-Metal tip and
handles
3 - 10 acid to base. It is 7 3/4" long, weighs about 1 pound, and is
made
by a company called "Well Make", or some similiar name (Google searches
did not show anything up).

My intended use is for "reconditioning" glaze that has "settled out". My
limited
understanding is that the Frit I use "leaches" out and changes over time and
changes the pH toward the base side and that this generally needs to be
compensated for by adding acid in some form.....

Any advice on whether this would be a useful tool for glaze reconditioning?

Thanks,
