Is there a kind and generous soul out there that would be willing to share
Richard Zakin's Denton Green recipe? I thought I had his Electric Kiln book, but
the only one I have by him is Ceramics, Mastering the Craft and no Denton
Green. :-(
Thanks in advance,
Elzbieta

Hi Elzbieta
I see that you have had no response to your
request.
Since I have his book, it is not a problem to
look it up for you.
Here is what I found:
Denton Green
Soda feldspare 30
Spodumene 12
Wollastonite 30
Kaolin 10
Zirconiium 18
Total 100
Copper Carbonate 2.5
In his appendix he suggests
F4 for a soda feldspare, and
EPK for the Kaolin
Hope this helps

The glaze is listed as a cone 6 glaze but it will not melt properly at cone
6 - and will release copper into food if used as a liner glaze.

Not only will it release copper, this is a glaze I use as a
demonstration of how bad (unstable) a glaze can be (even though it is
very attractive). I can draw the color out of this one with a slice of
lemon within an hour or so and use it in workshops to make a point.
Please don't use it on functional work.
