A potter friend of mine in Grand Rapids,Michigan said I should hook up
with you all because I've been making pots off and on since 1961 and I
fire exclusivly with wood and use a lot of ash glazes. I tryed to tell her
I'm not making pots today but she said that wouldn't matter since I would
be soon.
I have gotten lucky to move to the U.P.of Michigan near Norway with tons
of balsum and cedar slash available from my bubby Peters logging. We do
other things already to live off the woods like brush for wreaths and
maple syurp which is going on now. However my long term plan is to rebuild
a 75cu.ft. or so Teng Te Chen style kiln with a hob and pignose which I
found quite successful between '86-90. Oddly enough now I've gotten onto
this 'puter thing I find I'm not alone in my imaginations.
My other intention is to continue working with the 40/40/20 ball clay,
feldspar, and ash "slip glaze" in a once fire manner.
I'm also learning to do pictures on this so any coaching there would be
helpfull. I've got lots of slides and negatives from the last kiln needing
to be organized. I don't know all yet but is this good enough for a sig.
