Position: Professor of Fine Arts

SALARY: Commensurate with credentials and experience plus excellent fringe
benefits, 2003-04 minimum is $34,949.

QUALIFICATIONS: Required: Master's degree in Fine Arts. Applicant must have
sufficient academic preparation and/or experience to develop and teach
courses in Ceramics, Introduction to Art, Survey of World Art, and Design
(2D and 3D). Demonstrated sensitivity to the needs of students, faculty, and
staff from multi-cultural backgrounds. Successful candidate must complete
the three-credit hour course EDU 250, The Community College, within two
years of initial employment or submit an official transcript indicating
successful completion of a similar course at another college. Preferred:
Prior teaching experience and curriculum development experience at the
Community College level. NOTE: Position is nine-month. Available August
2004.
The Department The Social Science and Fine Arts Division is a vibrant
energetic organization consisting of 20 full time faculty and approximately
70 associates. The division provides a broad educational spectrum with
associate degrees in the social sciences and fine arts. The Fine Arts
department consists of Music, Theater, Art History and Art. Within art, the
following disciplines are taught: Painting, Drawing, Ceramics and Design.
TYPICAL DUTIES: Teach 15 equated load hours per semester. Courses include
ceramics, painting, drawing and design.

May teach evenings and/or weekends utilizing non-traditional delivery
methods such as interactive television, web based, and/or accelerated
classes.

Function as a resource for community-related art development projects by
providing seminars and/or short-term courses as necessary.

Participate in student recruitment, placement, advisement, curriculum
development, and serve on college committees.

Identify student-learning outcomes; develop processes and tools for
assessment; incorporate results in order to modify instruction and materials
in general education, degree program, course cluster, and/or certificate
program in coordination with colleagues.

Establish and maintain relationships with the district's educational
partners.

Attend and participate in faculty meetings.

Participate in professional development activities.

Provide support for associate faculty.

Maintain regular office hours.
