While proudly showing off some of my pots when some family came to visit, Aunt Florence approached one raku piece and studied it with her nose right up to it. She took her time, then stood up exasperated and said, "Well, I just don't see the raccoon anywhere! Is this a trick?" Toni Smith in Ohio

Aw, for a second there i thought somebody peeked at my website. LOL!
Many years ago in the early 90's I was introduced to raku firing, got
so hooked I built my own kiln (thanks to Steve Branfman's wonderful
book among others). As a lifelong Beatlemaniac, I also did a couple of
sets of handmade tiles where I painted portraits of the Fab Four in
underglaze. So a friend of mine, another lifelong Beatlemaniac,
suggested I call myself Rocky Raku. Every time i do a craft fair with a
DJ, they always make sure to play "Rocky Raccoon" for me. So i guess
it's become my booth's theme song over the years.
