white and grey, peach and salmon, fat and thick, quiet and dramatic, big and
small, crazed and crackled, crawled and pitted begins our invitation to
participate in the shino show curated by Malcom Davis at Baltimore
Clayworks-100 potters using shino. They are also hosting The Orton Cone Box
Show and a solo of Richard DeVore. i think will be a must see show for Nccea
folks next year.

Hi Tony,

Hey, let's hear it for Malcolm the Shinoman, we're gonna be in a show
together! I got an invite too. Probably there's a few more of us
clayartors in the show, OK who are youse others?

My favorite line from the letter was "And you have just under a year to
come up with it." That means one more firing for me, in October. I've
got a couple pieces saved from the April firing, but of course am hoping
for that sublime one from October.

Malcolm is a great guy, I had the pleasure of making lunch for him here
a couple of years ago. He was giving a workshop up at Lake Tahoe, which
he's doing again this year (I'm signed up this time).

Woodfiring has drug me into the shino camp, but it's alright here, at
least Tony's here too. I hope we meet in person sometime, and can talk
shino over a couple of cocktails.

Good smokey firings,

Tony, tell me we will be able to touch the pots in the shino show next year in Baltimore. There is nothing harder than seeing great pots you love or are fascinated by, and you can't touch them. Please? Toni in Ohio

Dear Outlaw Paul: It'll be great to be in your good company. Can't wait to
see your work. One more firing before deadline of Feb- yikes you are a brave
one. You big wood guys have more nerve than Fearless Fosdick.
Probably a good place for an outlaw is in the mountains. My favourite movie
of all time. Bobby Redford in The Mountain Man. Wanted to live that movie
at one time.
closing line of the movie- bobby says "Watch your topknot". Will Geir?
replies
"Watch yern".

Bon feu!
Tony
