ot: someone wanted: 5 mp camera

I just spent a great deal of time researching digital cameras as I bought
one for my wife for a gift. The best one for the money (under $500 US) that
is out there is the Canon G3. It is a 4 MP camera with a 3X optical zoom,
great sensor reception, and the best I have seen when it comes to battery
life (this is a big one folks!). It also came with Photoshop 5. DO NOT BUY
THE G5 it is not as good as the G3! This camera is getting harder and
harder to find as it is not being made anymore. However you can get a
reconditioned one through many dealers with good extended warranties. This
is a very good camera! And unless you are going very large format (14"x16")
it will be everything you would want in a Dig camera! (with the exception
of it does not save in TIFF files, only RAW, and JPG).

Someone recently asked about a "cheap"
5 megapixel camera.
This one is on sale tomorrow at your local
Sears, or online at the link below.
You'll have to cut and paste the entire link.

Comes with a dock, and a bag, according
to the ad. I thought the price was pretty good.

This was e-mailed to me, courtesy of Sears.

make any money from 'em.

Corey,

I have pictures I took with my G5 posted at
http://www.duckfootpottery.com

Do you have any taken with your G3 that we
could see to compare against?

Thanks.

The photo's on web sites can be deceptive. Unless it is a bad photo (i.e.
out of focus, bad lighting, blurred) most computer monitors will not show
true resolution. What I meant to say about the G3 vs. G5 is that although
they are almost the same camera (G5 has more megapics and more optical zoom
power) the color sensor of the G5 has some problems (mostly purple fringing
in high contrast shots).
go to the following for a good review:

They most likely say as little as possible! ;-)

From a recent post to the Kodak-Digita Group:

"Most digital cameras have this problem
to some degree. A description of what is going on,
and a method to remove the purple fringing can be found at:

htttp://ray.cg.tuwien.ac.at/rft/Photography/TipsAndTricks/Aberration/

The purple fringing is most noticeable in photos of things like leafless
trees and utility wires at the periphery of the image.

This may be a function of the lens due to some form of Chromatic

I have a Canon G5 and have taken a lot of photos with it. I have not yet
seen the effect noted in some reviews. Every review I read about this camera
said it was one of the best on the market and in the cons they sometimes
mentioned this fringing and that you can see the lens through the optical
viewfinder. (Something I rarely use) I am very pleased with it but, like all
technology, know that it will soon be out of date and much cheaper. This is
the way now my 12"G4 aluminium Powerbook has had 2 upgrades since I bought
it less than 12 months ago. Still I love both my powerbook and my Canon G5
and they both do the job I bought them for very well.

I hope to have my web site up by the end of the week so you can have a look
at the results.

Leonard

Thank god its not the same with pottery equipment, said he looking at the
first wheel he bought 30 years ago which is still going strong.

Dear Carl,
Though I have not reached such heights of sophistication with digital
photography, I thank you for the information you have given.
